The Yorktown Town Board voted to advertise bids for the sports complex. The proposal includes two all-purpose sports fields, a baseball field, a gazebo and a concession stand.

Supervisor Michael Grace said the cost of the project is unknown until bids come in, and he has been negotiating to get Spectra Energy to pay for the field. The project will be built at no cost to the town, Grace said.

"Providing more active space for organized recreational programs and supporting our great athletic organizations such as the Yorktown Athletic Club, Shrub Oak Athletic Club, and the Yorktown Youth Soccer Club is a great investment for the Town to make," Grace said.

Construction is set to begin in the mid to late summer. The project is expected to be completed by spring 2018.
