YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- For some people it's the unluckiest day of the calendar. For others, especially in Yorktown, it's just a regular day.

Triskaidekaphobia is the fear of Friday the 13th, which has its origins in the Last Supper, where the 13th guest Judas betrayed Jesus, who died on Friday. The superstition has led to the successful horror franchise "Friday the 13th."

Diane Travis thinks the opposite when it comes to the infamous bad luck day.

"I believe it is a lucky day," Diane Travis said. "It makes me want to play the lottery."

Jillian Santana said she does not believe in superstitions.

"I would walk underneath a ladder with a black cat," Santana said.

Dierdre Moy said she was not convinced Friday the 13th would bring any bad luck, while Jennifer Rosen said she feared the worst.

"The day is still young," Rosen said.
