YORKTOWN, N.Y.Students from BOCES cooked for a cause this week, as they prepared for a feast to serve the Salvation Armys soup kitchen in Peekskill.
Students from the National Technical Honor Society joined with culinary arts students on the BOCES campus to prepare the meal for 75 people.
Its always great to help, said Yorktown resident and culinary arts student Nick Giordano. Anything for a good cause.
Student Damian Farias from North Salem also commented that the preparation had been a lot of fun.
Chef Stanley Rupinski , who has been teaching students for more than 10 years, said each student works hard to help others in the community. The students worked in tandem to create meals made of baked ziti, garden salad, meatballs and garlic toast over the course of two days.
I think its nice to know that people who are in need of food will get to have this meal, said Nicole Loscri, a Katonah resident and member of the tech honor society and a fashion design and merchandising student. We take for granted that we can get fresh food and eat whenever we want.
