Yorktown's DeLeon to Seek New York State Crown

YORKTOWN, N.Y.-- In her first appearance before the town board since completing her reign as Miss Westchester 2011, Yorktown resident Christina DeLeon announced Tuesday night her intention to seek a higher crown.

DeLeon received a proclamation thanking her for her service to Yorktown and noting her attendance at various charitable events throughout town, as well as her volunteer work for Guiding Eyes for the Blind and the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

“And whereas Christina has been, and continues to be an excellent role model for young women by being an active community member, volunteer and who has brought positive attention to the Town of Yorktown, we now therefore be it resolved that I, Susan Siegel, Supervisor of the Town of Yorktown, along with the town board wish to extend our congratulations and offer our sincere thanks to Christina and we wish her well in her future endeavors,” Supervisor Siegel said.

DeLeon is being sponsored by the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce with intentions of obtaining the Miss New York State title.

“I would just like to say thank you to Supervisor Siegel and the town board for taking the time to recognize me as a member of the community who is young, motivated and trying to make a difference in my life as well as others,” she said. DeLeon also expressed her gratitude to Joe Visconti, president of the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce, Roxanne Visconti, and the Chamber of Commerce as a whole for their support and sponsorship of her future endeavors.

“This is my first public appearance as simply Christina DeLeon, the former and first Miss Westchester 2011, and with the continuous effort of our community I would love to become Christina DeLeon of Yorktown Heights, Miss New York 2012,” she said.
