Those that wish to donate to support Guiding Eyes for the Blind can now text the word "guide" to 80888 to donate $10 to help support the school's programs and services.

After sending the text, cell phone users will be prompted to reply "yes" to confirm the donation. The $10 gift will be added directly to the supporter’s cell phone bill.

Guiding Eyes for the Blind provides guide dogs, professional training, and follow-up support services to blind and visually impaired individuals around the world at no cost to them. In addition, they also provide specially trained service dogs to children on the autism spectrum through their Heeling Autism program.

"Blindness Awareness Month is an opportunity for the community to gain a better understanding of what life is like with a vision impairment," Sue Dishart, vice president of marketing and development at Guiding Eyes for the Blind said in a statement. "Our clients have overcome innumerable obstacles to achieve amazing things. We applaud their courage and are asking those around us to get involved in changing more lives."
