Alfred LaPerch, Former Yorktown Resident, 85

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Alfred James LaPerch, a former Yorktown resident, died of cancer on Monday, Feb. 2, at his home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was 85.

He was known as Lou and was born in the Bronx on Aug. 13, 1929, to William and Alice (Lilly) LaPerch and graduated from DeWitt Clinton High school. He married Barbara Kelly on June 5, 1954.

LaPerch was a a Korean War veteran, a captain in the New York Police Department and a longtime federal agent.

He is survived by his children Bill (Deborah) of Katonah, Thomas (Lynda) of Brewster, Michael (Lucille) of Newtown, Conn., Richard of Denver, Colo., Patricia of Yorktown, Mary Ann of White Plains, and John (Kathy) of New Milford, Conn., fifteen grandchildren and four great-granddaughters.

He was predeceased by his wife and his brother, Bill.

Visitation will be at Yorktown Funeral Home, 945 E. Main St., Shrub Oak on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church on Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.
