Allan Egan, 83, Past Yorktown Zoning Chair, Dies

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – Allan E. Egan of Yorktown Heights died Aug. 19 at his home. He was 83.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Egan attended Cardinal Hayes High School and was a graduate of Manhattan College. He worked at Westvaco Corp. for 47 years and served in the Army. Locally, he served as chair of the Zoning Board and was an active parishioner at St. Patrick's Church.

An avid sports fan, he loved all Yorktown events, New York Giants football and West Point Army football. Egan also enjoyed spending time at his home in Windham, N.Y.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Julie Blessington Egan; five children, Mary Jane McNamara, John Egan, Julie Egan, Nancy Murphy and Timothy Egan; and 10 grandchildren.

Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Clark Funeral Home in Yorktown Heights. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam, 540 White Plains Road, Tarrytown, NY 10591.
