YORKTOWN, N.Y. – Ann L. Marschhauser, a former Yorktown resident, died Saturday, Sept. 2, at Glens Falls Hospital after a prolonged illness, surrounded by her family. She was 75.
Marschhauser was born April 18, 1937, in Bronx, N.Y., to Robert Lee and Mary May Scott. She married Nicholas Marschhauser on Sept. 17, 1955, at St. Francis Church in the Bronx. She served as the director of senior citizens for Hudson Falls, N.Y., and Fort Edward, N.Y., before retiring after her first bout with cancer.
She also helped her husband in running concession stands in upstate Jellystone Campgrounds and East Field for many years. Marschhauser was a founder and past president of the Helvetian Acres Woman's Club in Yorktown Heights, as well as a member of the Yorktown Fire Department Women's Auxiliary.
She was a 35-year member of the American Legion in both Yorktown and Lake George, N.Y., and was most recently of Granville, N.Y. She enjoyed camping and going to casinos as well as spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her dogs, Shorty and Frisky.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 57 years, Nicholas; two daughters, Susan (Michael) Phillips, of Henrietta, N.Y., and Mary Ann (Gary) Nims, of North Hebron, N.Y.; a son, Nicholas Marschhauser Jr. and his significant other, Samantha Mitchell, of Gansevoort, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Christopher, Brian, Jessica and Breanna Marschhauser, and Kimberly Pappas; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Diana (Fred) Mariutto, of Palmyra, Va.; and a brother, Robert Lee (Susan) Scott, also of Palmyra.
Marschhauser was predeceased by a son, Christopher; a grandson, Gregory; and a great-grandson, Aaron.
Burial took place Thursday, Sept. 6, at Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery in Saratoga, N.Y.
