Barbara Stofko, 76, Retired Principal, Of Yorktown

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – Barbara L. Stofko of Yorktown Heights died July 12. She was 76. 

Stofko was principal of St. Teresa of Avila School in North Tarrytown and Our Lady of Fatima School in Scarsdale before retiring in 2001. 

She was born April 25, 1936, in Yonkers to Edmund and Helen Lewis. She graduated from the College of Mount St. Vincent in Riverdale, N.Y., in 1958.

She married Robert C. Stofko on July 4, 1959. 

Stokfo was a Eucharistic minister and lector at St. Patrick's Church in Yorktown. She also volunteered for the Discovery Shop and was a member of the Cortlandt Yacht Club. 

She is survived by her husband; a son, Charles Stofko; three daughters, Ellen Stofko, Mary Kim Johnson and Jane (Scott) Imbro; a sister, Mary Lewis; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Yorktown Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Main Church in Yorktown Heights. Burial will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, N.Y  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dominican Sister Family Health Services, 299 N. Highland Ave., Ossining, NY 10562.
