Chester K. Schoonmaker, 82, Of Shrub Oak

SHRUB OAK, N.Y. -- Chester K. Schoonmaker, a longtime resident of Shrub Oak, died peacefully surrounded by his family on May 1. He was 82.

Schoonmaker was born in 1932 in Ossining to DuBois and Gladys Schoonmaker.

He graduated from Ossining Senior High School in 1950 and attended Westchester Community College.

He left school to serve in the U.S. Army, earning a National Defense Service Medal for his service during the Korean War.

Schoonmaker came home to be a head lineman for Con Edison in Indian Point and Eastview before retiring in 1997 as a member of Buchanan Utility Workers Union in New York City.

He was predeceased by his wife Patricia, and is survived by his three children, Patricia and her husband, Michael Scozzari, Deborah Vesuvio, and a son, Karl Schoonmaker. three grandchildren, Jessica Santoro, Christina Montaldo and Marissa Montaldo and his great-grandson Jayden.

Visiting hours are on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home in Yorktown Heights.

Funeral services are on Wednesday at 11 am at the United Methodist Church in Shrub Oak.

Interment will follow at the Shrub Oak Methodist Church Cemetery.
