Dr. Paul R. Edelman, Of Yorktown, Owned Dr. Paul R. Edelman & Associates

PEEKSKILL/YORKTOWN, N.Y. - Dr. Paul R. Edelman, a longtime Peekskill-Yorktown resident, died April 5. He was 73.

Dr. Edelman served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. He was a graduate of the New England College of Optometry. He was a member of the American Optometric Association; and also was on the SUNY College of Optometry College Council. He was a local optometrist and ran his own practice, Dr. Paul R. Edelman & Associates, for over-40 years in the Peekskill and Yorktown area.

He was a member and past-president of the Peekskill Lions Club. He was also a member of the Peekskill Fire Patrol Rescue #134 for 27 years; serving as past-president and present vice-president, and also as chaplain.

Dr. Edelman is survived by his wife, Joan (nee Malerba) Edelman; sons, Andrew (Paula Finnerty) Edelman, Barry (Christine Kelly) Edelman and Robert Edelman; two grandchildren; sister, Carol Goldstein; a nephew; friends; and patients.

Calling hours are Wednesday, April 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, April 10 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.O. Curry Funeral Home, Peekskill. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11 at the Temple Beth Am, 203 Church Pl., Yorktown Heights, followed by interment in the Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dr. Edelman's memory to the Peekskill Lions Club, P.O. Box 205, Peekskill, NY 10566.
