Gerard "Jerry" Lechleiter, 82, Yorktown Heights Resident

YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Gerard "Jerry" Lechleiter of Yorktown Heights died on Sunday, Aug. 16. He was 82.

Mr. Lechleiter was born in 1933 in the Bronx to Edward and Jeannette Lechleiter. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School and Manhattan College in the Bronx before ultimately earning his Juris Doctorate from Fordham University School of Law in 1964.

He worked as an attorney for the Service Station Dealers of Greater New York in Mamaroneck until his retirement in 2004. In 1969, he married Mary C. Cavanaugh at St. Ann's Church in the Bronx. They moved to Yorktown Heights in 1976.

He was a devout parishioner at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Shrub Oak, and will be remembered for his sense of humor and love of football, especially the Giants and Jets. He is survived by his brother, Edward Lechleiter of Youngtown, AZ, his daughter Mary Beth and her husband Edward Francy, and his grandchildren Charlotte and Carter Francy, all of Wallingford. His wife Mary predeceased him in 2004.

Calling hours are Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home in Yorktown Heights. The funeral is Thursday, Aug. 20 at 11:15 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Shrub Oak. Internment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
