YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Joan (Schulman) Schainholtz, of Yorktown, passed away Sunday, Aug. 7 at age 71.
A Yorktown resident for 43 years, she grew up in Far Rockaway and was always a "Beach 57th" girl at heart.
She was an artist and an art teacher.
In 1971, she married Bernard and had daughters Dana and Mara. She managed her husband's dental practice for 30 years while keeping her love for art by learning pottery.
She is also survived by her granddaughter, Stella; brother, Michael Schulman; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and devoted friends.
She could not have come through several spinal surgeries and live with Parkinson's Disease the past 12 years without the loving care and dedication of Tessa Mitchell.
A graveside service was conducted Tuesday. Shiva will be observed at 2853 Hedwig Drive, Yorktown Heights. Friends may visit from 1-7 p.m. through Friday.
