YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – John G. Gaffney, of Yorktown Heights, died Jan. 7. He was 84.

He was born Sept. 27, 1928, in New Haven, Conn., to John and Alice Gaffney. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Gaffney married Elaine Thibeault June 23, 1956, in West Haven, Conn. They later settled in Yorktown to raise their family.

Gaffney retired from a career cable news sales and was member of the Yorktown Knights of Columbus and a former commissioner of Mohansic Boy Club.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Dennis (Linda), Donald and Robert (Debra); and four grandchildren.

Visitation is from 9-10:15 a.m. Thursday at Yorktown Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Stone Church in Yorktown.
