Joseph F. Hoffman, 70, War Veteran, Father Of Yorktown Resident

NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- Joseph “Joe” F. Hoffman, of New Windsor, and father of Jill Hoffman of Yorktown, entered into rest on Dec. 23 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh. Joe was 70 years old.

The son of the late Joseph F. and Alma T. (Johnson) Hoffman, Joe was born on Feb. 8, 1943 in Kew Gardens, Queens. Joe honorably and faithfully served his country from 1960 to 1964 in the U.S. Navy. He worked in the computer industry from his time in the Navy up until his death. He worked for Control Data, where he was the youngest manager at the time of his promotion and for Sun Microsystems on Wall Street in New York City.

Joe is survived by his companion Susan Quade; Joan Hoffman, the mother of his children; he was the beloved father of four children: Joel and Andrea Hoffman, Jennifer and Tom Costello, Jill Hoffman and  Adam Mackewicz, and Jonathan and Elizabeth Hoffman; his brother John Hoffman and his wife Sandy; his grandchildren: Taylor, Kyle, Dylan, Sophia, James, and Ava; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his brother Jimmy Hoffman.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, N.Y.  Visitation will also be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27 at Clark Funeral Home, 2104 Saw Mill River Rd, Yorktown Heights, N.Y. 10598. 

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28 at St. Patrick’s Church (Main Church) 137 Moseman Road, Yorktown Heights, N.Y. 10598
