Joseph John Pierini, 83, Of Mohegan Lake, Retired NYPD Detective

MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y. - Joseph John Pierini, of Mohegan Lake, formerly of Mahopac, died May 2. He was 83.

Pierini was born Feb. 8, 1930, to Joseph and Natalie (Decola) Pierini, in the Bronx. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a detective for the New York Police Department until his retirement.

Pierini is survived by his children, Donna Murphy, Diane Verrino, Gena Mazza and Christopher Michelini; nine grandchildren; and his companion, Bruni Bacardi.

Calling hours will be Saturday, May 4 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, May 5 from 2 to 5 p.m., at Cargain Funeral Homes, Inc. , 418 US6, Mahopac, NY 10541 (845)628-5655. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, May 6 at 10 a.m. at St. John's The Evangelist R.C. Church, 225 East Lake Blvd., Mahopac, NY 10541. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
