Mary Macdonald, 93, Former Yorktown Heights Resident

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Mary Elizabeth Macdonald, a longtime Yorktown Heights resident, died on Dec. 14. She was 93.

Macdonald was born June 17, 1921 to Delbert and Mary Tompkins, in the Town of Cortlandt. She attended Toddville School and graduated from Peekskill High School in 1939.

Macdonald married Holland S. Macdonald in 1948 and they lived in Yorktown until his death in 1984. She relocated to Danville, Va., in 2010.

Macdonald was an was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown, where she was a member of the choir, the Yorktown Heights Engine Company Number 1 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Yorktown Republican Club. 

Macdonald was predeceased by her four siblings Alberta Denton, Delbert ‘Skip’ Tompkins, Madeline ‘Midge’ Murphy, and Alpheus ‘Toddy’ Tompkins.

Macdonald is survived by her two sons, Holland S Macdonald Jr, (wife Elizabeth), of Blanch, N.C., and William J. Macdonald (Gail) of Yorktown Heights. She is also survived by several cousins, three nieces and three nephews.
