Michael Cook, 84, Former Yorktown Resident

YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Michael H. Cook, 84, passed away last Friday in Florida.

He was born on Jan. 18, 1933 in The Bronx to the late John “Jimmy” James Cook and Sally Fagenbaum Cook. He served in the United States Army where he was part of the 258th Field Artillary Battalion National Guard from 1949-1952 and the 8th Ordinance Company from 1953-1955 where he was a Corporal.

After his service, he was employed by Western Electric/AT&T Technology for more than 40 years working in various areas of New York. Before relocating to Florida in 1993, he served as Past Exalted Ruler and lifetime member of the Elks in Yorktown Heights and as Past Commander and lifetime member of the VFW in Mahopac.

Cook was an avid golfer and had a lifetime membership at North/South and Sandpiper Golf Club. He was a prior member of the computer club, a prior volunteer with the Security Patrol, and a member with King’s Point Sportsman’s Club.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol Castellani Cook; children, Teri (Tom) Cook, Michael (Lisa) Cook Jr., and John (Barbara) Cook; grandchildren, Delanie, Nicholas, Cameron, Courtney, and Julia Cook.

A visitation will be held from 4-6 pm Friday at Sun City Center Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center with a luncheon following at Conesa Hall. Internment will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date.
