Nancy Monigan, 47, Yorktown School Volunteer

YORKTOWN, N.Y. – Nancy Gormley Monigan of Yorktown died Jan. 31, surrounded by her family, after a long battle with lupus. She was 47.

Monigan dedicated much of her time to the St. Patrick’s School sports program and went above and beyond whenever anything was asked of her, her family said.

She was born Sept. 28, 1965, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Anne Malloy Gormley and the late James W. Gormley. She graduated from the former Franciscan High School and attended college before beginning her career at Pepsi Co. in Somers.

On July 13, 1991, she married Raymond J. Monigan. She continued working until her illness made it impossible. She then devoted her time to her family at home, her family said.

Monigan is survived by her husband; three daughters, Caitlyn, Emily and Rayanne; her mother; a brother, James A.; a sister, Margaret; three brothers-in-law, Edward, Raymond and John; three sisters-in-law, Robi, Eileen and Ellen; and her mother-in-law, Margaret. She was predeceased by her father; and her father-in-law, Raymond.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Yorktown Funeral Home in Shrub Oak. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s New Church in Yorktown Heights. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, 2000 L St. NW, Suite 410, Washington DC, 20036.
