Retired Putnam Deputy Sheriff Sal Guadagnino Dies

Salvatore Guadagnino of Carmel, a retired Putnam County Sheriff's deputy, died on Tuesday, Sept. 26, with his family by his side. He was 78.

Born in 1939, in New York City, Guadagnino was a devoted husband, a loving father, and dedicated grandfather.

He was proud to be a member of the U.S. Army Reserves and before retirement, he was employed and served as a Putnam County Sheriff's deputy.

Guadagnino is survived by his wife, Sheila; daughter, Lisa of Mahopac; two grandchildren, Steven and Christopher Erker; along with his brother John (Denise) and sisters Constance, Linda, and Valerie. He was predeceased by his brother Michael. 

He will be dearly missed by all who had known and loved him, yet his legacy of love and devotion to family and friends will continue to grow in our hearts.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, Sept. 29, 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Cargain Funeral Homes, Inc., 10 Fowler Ave., Carmel. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held during the hours and will take place at 7:30 p.m. Graveside service will be held at The Raymond Hill Cemetery, Monday, Oct. 2, at 11:00 a.m.
