Russell P. Girolamo, 86, Of Yorktown, Founder, Girolamo Insurance Agency

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - Russell P. Girolamo of Peekskill, and longtime resident of Yorktown, died Dec. 29. He was 86.

Girolamo was born Sept. 28, 1927, in the Bronx, to Pasquale and Antoinette Girolamo. He attended the prestigious Stuyvesant High School in New YorkCity, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II after graduating high school. He then graduated from New York University with both BS and MBA degrees. He married Norma, in 1953 and settled in Yorktown several years later. Russell founded the Girolamo Insurance Agency in Yorktown in 1961. He was a 35-year member and past president of the Westchester County Football Officials Association. He was active in the community, serving as president of both the Circolo DaVinci and The Exchange Club and as commissioner of the Mohansic Boys' Club Pop Warner Football Program. He was a 20-year member of Highlands Golf Club in Garrison.

Girolamo is survived by his children, Mark (Denise), Robert (Patricia), Elena Watson, Patrice Sullivan (Neal), Marissa Girolamo and Russell, Jr. (Alison); 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Norma Fusco Girolamo.

Calling hours are Friday, Jan. 3 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 0 p.m. at the Yorktown Funeral Home in Shrub Oak. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4 at St. Patrick's Church in Yorktown Heights.
