She was born Sept. 19, 1968, in Carmel, the daughter of Roger A. and Wendy J. (VanCoughnett) Mayes. She married Craig Gioia July 24, 1994, in Highland.
She was a graduate of SUNY Oneonta and SUNY New Paltz, were she received her master's degree in education.
Her boys were her life and she never once missed a sporting event in which either of them participated. Her other past time was she enjoyed going to the gym.
She is survived by her husband: Craig Gioia of Hyde Park; sons: Bryce A. and Connor D. Gioia; father and mother Roger and Wendy J. Mayes; sisters and their husbands, Laurie and Joseph Pelkofski of Cape Corral, Fla. and Sondra And Patrick Cullimore of Pawling; brother and his wife, Roger K. and Selina Mayes of Cape Corral, Fla.; mother-in-law, Frances Gioia of Poughkeepsie; sister-in-law, Robin Moore of Albany; brother-in-law, Scott Gioia of New York City; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. Entombment will follow the services at St. Peters Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
