YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. - Yolanda Matranga of Jefferson Village, Yorktown Heights, died Thursday, Nov. 20. She was 83.
Matranga was born Jan. 30, 1931, to Carmine and Raffaela Mossorofo, in Brooklyn. After her marriage she lived with her family for over 45 years in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx then relocated Jefferson Village in 1999.
Matranga is survived by her daughters, Jean (Ed) Day, Rae (Angela Caracciolo) Matranga, Susan (Danny) Brophy; son, Joseph (Mary Ellen); eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; sisters, Philomena (Sal) Dragotto, Rose Ferraro, Gloria Martines, Camille (Sonny) Grilli, Nancy Parker; sisters in-law, Anne Mossorofo, and Annette Matranga; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter; brothers, Sonny and Georgie Mossorofo; and sister, Tina Mossorofo.
Calling hours are Friday, Nov. 21 from 2 to 4:30 and 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Yorktown Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla.
