MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y. Dr. Zafarullah "Zafar" Gill, a resident of Mohegan Lake for the past 13 years, died Wednesday, Sept. 5. He was 65.
He married Jeena Inayat on March 11, 1971, in Sahiwal, Pakistan. He worked as a physician for 42 years. For the past 22 years, Gill was an international health care policy expert at the United Nations, Columbia University and the USAID projects.
Gill also served as director of Memorial Christian Hospital in Pakistan and on many boards, including Medical Benevolence Foundation. He was a devout member of the First Baptist Church of Peekskill.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jeena; two sons, Suneel (Lauren) Gill and Aneel (Juana Andrade) Gill; a sister, Shamin Khokhar; and a grandson.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Peekskill. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, followed by burial at Hillside Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor. E.O. Curry Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Medical Benevolence Foundation or Zafar Gill Memorial Fund c/o the First Baptist Church.
