Relay For Life Organizers Says Thanks To Yorktown

YORKTOWN, N.Y. ? The Relay For Life of Yorktown committee would like to thank the entire community, from the seniors to the students, for helping fight cancer by raising over $226,000 as of Aug. 31 for the research, programs and services of the American Cancer Society.

Your efforts helped Yorktown become one of the top 10 events in New York and New Jersey from a list of more than 350 events!

Although challenged by potentially threatening weather, our community came shining through in the fight against cancer. We endured hail, strong winds, and lots of rain right through our opening ceremony.

The flip side ? along with the test of rain ? Mother Nature blessed us with not one, but two beautiful rainbow moments and one was a double rainbow, a true sign that it was going to be an amazing night and that our angels were with us.

There were so many memorable moments before, during and after Relay. Please take some time to think of your favorite moment and start brainstorming on how we can continue the success on June 14, 2013. We look forward to seeing the Purple Power around town as we prepare for another amazing event. Thank you all for helping to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays!
