Yorktown Letter: Vote Bob Giordano

YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- The Yorktown Daily Voice accepts signed letters to the editor. Please send letters to yorktown@dailyvoice.com.

As a 30-plus year resident of Yorktown, I urge all Yorktown citizenry to step up and participate in a crucial vote for the next Town Board member(s) election March 10.

In my view, Bob Giordano deserves your vote. I had the pleasure of recently working with Bob on the Garden of Hope Hunger initiative, an ecumenical, interfaith community volunteer garden effort on White Hill Road in Yorktown, near Wilkins Farm.

The garden produced more than a ton of organic vegetables in 2014 for County Harvest & Fred’s Food Pantry to help feed the hungry in Northern Westchester and Putnam.

Among other volunteers, Bob devoted his time and gave much support to the garden’s success. It is another example on his long list of selfless, active community involvements.

Bob is also a longtime resident. He has been a founding member, member of the board, or chairman of such Yorktown organizations as the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Historical Society, Small Business Association and Planning Board, among many others.

The town needs the caliber of an engaged citizen, local business advocate, and community service activist on our Town Board.

I am personally aware of his tireless efforts to promote small business in Yorktown. He is an advocate to preserve the environment and open space and also brings a responsible voice to many in our town in improving and expanding the town’s commercial tax base.

It is just such a thoughtful, intelligent voice that is needed to address the current issues we face as a town.

Lack of focus to our small businesses, constant Town Board member controversies, poor communication and transparency to the public and the lack of open, honest discussions concerning many matters, such as the serious tax problem confronting the town in the very near future, all now require a time for a change in Yorktown civic affairs.

Bob is the right candidate to seek collaboration among board members and use his demonstrated intelligence and past experiences in leadership positions to move Yorktown forward in a positive way.

We need Yorktown citizenry to step up, vote, and put Bob Giordano on Yorktown Town Board March 10.
