The boy, whose name is being withheld, was charged with juvenile delinquency with the underlying charge being falsely reporting an incident in the second degree.

On Tuesday morning, Brian Mundy, the Mildred Strang School Resource Officer, was alerted by a student that she had received a text message from an unknown number that contained a non-specific bomb threat, Yorktown Police said.

Yorktown Police responded to the scene and met with school officials and the threat was not credible, police said. Police investigated and were able to identify the 12-year-old as the one who sent the text message.

He was issued a juvenile appearance ticket and is set to appear at the Westchester County Department of Probation on April 25.
