18-Year-Old Girl Assaults 15-Year-Old, Yorktown Police Say

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- An 18-year-old Bronx female, whose name is being withheld due to her eligibility for youthful offender status, is being charged with assault in the third degree and endangering the welfare of a child by Yorktown police.

Police say on Friday, Oct. 4, a call was received from the staff of the Phoenix Academy reporting an assault. Officers were dispatched to the scene and conducted an investigation that revealed the 18-year-old female punched a 15-year-old female resident of the academy, causing the victim to sustain scratches and bruising to her face, according to the police.

Police say the 18-year-old female allegedly fled he scene prior to the arrival of police.  

At approximately 10:43 p.m., the 18-year-old female was located walking on East Main Street in Shrub Oak and arrested in reference to the incident, according to police.  

She was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail/5,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m.
