YORKTOWN, N.Y. – Two women were arrested Saturday for possessing and attempting to purchase items with counterfeit $100 bills, acording to the Yorktown Police Department.
Veania L. Baker, 24, of Brooklyn, attempted to purchase merchandise with counterfeit money at Staples at around 4:55 p.m., then fled in a white Infiniti occupied by others, police said. The car was pulled over by police and an investigation revealed Baker, the driver, had a suspended driver’s license, police said. Passenger Ryan A. Bailey, 27, of the Bronx, was taken to police headquarters, where police said they found counterfeit bills in her possession.
Baker was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, aggravated unlicensed operation and various traffic violations. She was sent to Westchester County Jail in lieu of $4,500 bond. Bailey was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and sent to Westchester County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
