The arrest occurred when Deputy Sheriff Kevin Radovich responded to a 911 report of a dispute involving an intoxicated male subject who was damaging property inside a Mahopac residence on July 31, about 12:29 a.m., according to officials.

After arriving at the scene, the deputy determined that the suspect, identified as Thomas S. Gonska, had shown up at the residence of his girlfriend while in an intoxicated state and engaged in a verbal dispute with her and her mother, police report.

During the incident, Gonska allegedly punched and damaged a door, and also threw a cell phone at his girlfriend, according to officials.

Gonska’s actions caused the two women to fear for their safety and prompted them to dial 911, police report.

After his arrest, Gonska was charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree and menacing in the third degree, both misdemeanors, according to officials.

The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment, police report.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, he could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000 for each charge.
