YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – Paulo M. Ferreira, a 20-year-old Crompond resident, has been charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, an unclassified misdemeanor, and driving an uninspected motor vehicle, a traffic violation, on Sunday, according to Yorktown police.

Police said an officer was on patrol when he observed a gray Volkswagen traveling on East Main Street with an expired inspection sticker. The vehicle was stopped in the Jefferson Valley Lanes parking lot, and the operator was identified as Ferreira, police said. A computer check at the scene revealed that Ferreira’s driver’s license was suspended, police said.

Ferreira was arrested at the scene and transported to police headquarters. Following processing, Ferreira was issued traffic summonses on the aforementioned charges and released on $100 bail. Ferreira is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Thursday, April 2, at 6 p.m.
