A father and his two daughters were able to safely escape and. no injuries were reported, according to News 12.
As Fire Police and multiple Carmel Police units closed the roads to allow tankers access to drop their 2,500 gallon loads, Chief Jeff Boyle began putting out calls for tankers from Mahopac, Putnam Valley and Somers. Carmel relocated a pumper to Mahopac Falls Headquarters, as both Falls Stations emptied when hearing the call.
Firefighters were hampered a safe entry to the road because overhead power lines were melting off the side of the house. A water source was set up at the dry hydrant at 6N and Baldwin Place Road, filling the numerous tankers that hauled thousands of gallons of water to the scene of the fire.
A request from the Incident Commander brought Somers Ladder truck and ambulance to the scene, the Putnam County Fire Investigation Team, Town of Carmel Building Department and the Red Cross. NYSEG also sent a crew to the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
