Former HS Football Player Killed In Yorktown Motorcycle Crash

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Erik Godinho, a 20-year-old who played football for Putnam Valley High School, was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday in Yorktown Heights.

Godinho collided with another car Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Route 132 and Barberry Road in Yorktown, Lt. Tom Gentner said. The two-car accident remains under investigation, Gentner said. No one else was injured in the accident, Gentner said. 

Godinho was taken to Westchester Medical Center after the accident, according to the Yorktown Heights Fire Department.

Godinho was a guard and defensive end for Putnam Valley. He graduated in 2014. 

Visiting hours for Godinho will take place on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joseph Nardone Funeral Home at 414 Washington Street in Peekskill.

His funeral will be held on Friday at 12:30 p.m. at St. Columbanus Church in Cortlandt Manor. Private cremation will follow.
