The indictment was announced by Preet Bharara, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York and Daniel McMahon, Yorktown Police Chief.

In January 2014, Anton Saljanin, a driver for a shipping company , drove a truck from Yorktown Heights to Massachusetts to pick up the Apple MacBook Air computers. Saljanin brought his brother Gjon with him, according to the complaint.

The next day, Anton reported to the Yorktown Police Department that his truck had been stolen from a parking lot in Yorktown Heights. Anton later said he spotted the truck from the highway in a parking lot in Danbury, according to the complaint.

The truck would not have been visible in the Danbury parking lot to a driver passing by on the highway and Anton's cell phone data contradicts his claims about the route he took, according to the complaint.

Yorktown Police examined the truck and found the window had been broken. They found broken glass on the scene in Danbury but not in Yorktown Heights, according to the complaint.

In interviews with Yorktown Police, the Saljanin brothers claimed they drove the truck from a convenience store in Yorktown Heights to the Yorktown Heights parking lot, though security camera footage showed them driving to Ujka Vulaj, a longtime friend of Saljanin, according to the complaint.

Vulaj and Carlos Caceres, a co-worker, sold dozens of computers for $500 to $800, below the market price and handed over each computer in plain brown cardboard packaging, according to the complaint.

The defendants are charged with conspiring to commit theft from an interstate shipment, interstate transportation of stolen property, receipt possession and sale of stolen property.

The Saljanins and Vulaj are charged with stealing property with a value of at least $1,000 from an interstate shipment, and aiding and abetting such theft. They are also charged with transporting in interstate commerce stolen property with a value of at least $5,000 and aiding and abetting such transport.

Vulaj and Caceres are charged with receiving, possessing and selling stolen property with a value of at least $5,000 and aiding and abetting such receipt, possession and sale.
