Homeless Woman Charged With Failure To Appear In Yorktown

YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- A homeless woman wanted for trespassing was arrested after she was found sleeping in the “common area” of the post office on Maple Hill Street, Yorktown police said.

Yorktown police said they arrested a homeless woman on charges of failing to appear in court in an earlier trespassing case after she was found sleeping at the Yorktown Heights post office.

Ada Beneraf, 53, had been wanted on an active warrant for failing to appear in court on the trespassing charge, police said.

She was arrested around 3:39 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, police said.

Beneraf was sent to Westchester County Jail after failing to post $250 bail, police said.

She was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, April 7, police said.
