Man, 24, Driving Erratically In Yorktown Was Drunk, Police Say

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- A Yorktown Heights man was charged with drunk driving after being stopped for driving erratically on Wednesday, according to Yorktown Police.

Stephen F. Meyer, Jr., 24, was arrested after an officer saw him swerving on the roadway, crossing the double yellow line and driving onto the shoulder of the road around 3:30 a.m. on Crompond Road, police said.

During an investigation Meyer was found to be driving at twice the legal limit at 0.18 percent, police said. He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right, failure to maintain lane and operating an uninspected motor vehicle, police said.

Meyer was released on his own recognizance to a responsible party and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
