State police stopped Fredy Ortega Flores of Cortlandt shortly after 2 a.m. on Thursday morning after he committed a vehicle and traffic law violation on Route 6.

During the subsequent stop, police said it was determined that Ortega Flores was impaired by alcohol, and further investigation revealed that he had a previous DWI conviction in the past 10 years.

Ortega Flores was arrested and charged with felony counts of driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction within 10 years and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Following arraignment, Ortega Flores was remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail. He is due back in Town of Cortlandt Court later this year to answer the charges.
