Yorktown police were dispatched to investigate a reported motor vehicle accident in which an uninvolved motorist was allegedly punched in the face on Monday, May 2, at approximately 6:08 p.m., according to officials.
An officer responded and conducted an investigation; following the officer’s inquiry, it was alleged that the suspect, identified as Robert Defeo Jr., had assaulted the operator of another vehicle after a road rage incident, police report.
Defeo was arrested at the scene and transported to Police Headquarters for processing, according to officials.
He has been charged with assault in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor, police report.
Defeo was arraigned, and a temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim, according to officials.
The defendant was released on his own recognizance, and is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, June 7, police report.
