State police were dispatched to investigate a reported sex offense that occurred at the Town Line Motel in Cortlandt on Wednesday.
Following an investigation, it was discovered that Erik Contreras-Diaz brought the victim to the motel and subjected the female victim to unwanted sexual contact and attempted to rape the victim, state police said. On numerous occasions, she attempted to contact police for assistance and he prevented her from making contact with authorities by forcefully taking her cell phone, police said. The victim was able to exit the motel room subsequent to a brief struggle and contacted the police for assistance.
Contreras-Diaz was located by police and arraigned before the Town of Cortlandt Justice Court.
Contreras-Diaz was charged with attempted rape in the first degree (a Class B felony), robbery in the third degree (a Class D felony) and sexual abuse in the first degree (a Class D felony). He was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail and iis due to appear in the Town of Cortlandt Court on Friday.
