Man Charged With DWI After Accident In Yorktown

YORKTOWN, N.Y. — A Fishkill man was charged with driving while intoxicated after being injured in a two-car accident in Yorktown last week.

Yorktown Police responded to the intersection of Route 6 and Sunnyside Street at about 7:30 p.m. June 27 following a report of an accident. Police officer Scott Sage conducted an investigation at the scene and determined Nicholas Belowch Jr., 57, was operating a 2003 Kia while in an intoxicated condition, according to the police report.

Belowch was transported to Westchester Medical Center for injuries sustained in the crash and was arrested by Sage. After being charged with the unclassified misdemeanor, Belowch was released to hospital staff and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court July 26.

In other police activity,

Carnival Warfare: On July 6 at 11:45 a.m., Yorktown Police charged Adio Sadik, 20, of Chappaqua with possessing an air gun in a public place, a town code violation. Police were summoned on June 20 to the Yorktown Firemen's Carnival on Commerce Street following a report of someone shooting at carnival rides. Sadik was later identified as someone who had fired a BB gun, according to the police report.

Peddling Problems: On July 3 at 3:20 p.m., 22-year-old Kevin Jones Jr. of Cortlandt and two unidentified 18-year-old Yonkers men were charged with peddling without a permit, a town code violation, after police said they were soliciting residents for home improvement services.
