Man Chokes Victim In Domestic Incident In Yorktown, Police Say

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N. Y. -- A 70-year-old Yorktown Heights man is facing assault and choking charges stemming from an incident last week when police say he threw a person to the ground, police said.

Jack J. Scimeca, of Underhill Avenue, was arrested May 13 and charged with misdemeanor criminal obstruction of breathing or circulation, and third-degree assault in the May 11 fracas, police said. He was released but due back in court May 17, in Yorktown police said.

He's also subject of a temporary order of protection to keep him away from the victim, police said. Yorktown police said they were called May 13 about the disturbance earlier in the week. 

It is alleged that he choked the victim then threw the person to the floor, causing bruising and swelling to the arms, police said. After investigating, police caught up with him at the Triangle Shopping Center, police said.
