Man 'Driving All Over Road' Charged With DWI In Yorktown, Police Say

YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- A Peekskill man was charged with felony driving while drunk after Yorktown police received a report of a person driving "all over the road" on Route 6 around 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 10.

Unkuch Adriano Puwainchir-Wachapa, 33, was stopped after officers observed him driving a green Toyota Camry west on Route 6 while failing to maintain a single lane, police said.

Once stopped at the intersection of Route 6 and Mountain Brook Road, Puwainchir-Wachapa backed into the patrol car. During the stop, officers learned that Puwainchir-Wachapa was driving while his license was suspended on an earlier DUI conviction, police said.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a BAC greater than 0.08, driving without a license, failure to use designated lane and unsafe backing. He was processed and released on $200 cash bail. He was then released to the Putnam Sheriff's Department for an outstanding warrant.
