Yorktown police said on Tuesday that they had arrested and charged 30-year-old Kevin Singleton with a misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a controlled substance after police spotted “drug activity” inside a vehicle he was in.

According to police, late on Monday afternoon, members of the Yorktown Police Department were conducting routine surveillance at the mall on Lee Boulevard when they allegedly spotted suspicious activity inside Singleton’s vehicle.

Officers watched as the operator of the vehicle then left the area and parked at 3651 Lee Blvd., police said. An investigation was launched, and it was ultimately determined that Singleton was in possession of “a quantity” of cocaine.

Singleton was arrested and transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters, where he was processed. He was released on $100 cash bail and is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, March 14.
