YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Emergency responders are searching for a man in a small floating device who went missing in Sparkle Lake in Yorktown Heights Monday afternoon, according to multiple reports.

Divers have been employed in the search for the unidentified man, who reportedly shouted for help before plunging under the water in the lake.

Rescue operations continued for hours following his cry for help, which occurred around 2 p.m.

The search is expected to resume upon daylight on Tuesday.

Signs reading "Beach closed," "No swimming," and "No lifeguard on duty" near the entrance to the beach.

Yorktown Heights Fire Department, Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department, Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Empress Emergency Medical Services and Yorktown Police Department are currently at the scene.
