On Monday, Feb. 13, police officers patrolling in the Jefferson Valley Mall parking lot were flagged by a loss prevention agent from Macy's who was requesting assistance with an alleged shoplifter.

According to police, it is alleged that James Earl Gilliard of Yonkers put multiple clothing items into a Macy’s shopping bag and walked out of the store without paying on two different occasions. It is reported that he stole $1,233.94 in merchandise.

Gilliard was arrested by police and transported to the Yorktown Police Department, where he was charged with a felony count of grand larceny. He was arraigned before Judge Gary Raniolo and remanded to the Westchester County Jail. He is due back in court later this year.
