The crash occurred around 12:15 p.m. at Roa Hook Road, said Trooper Melissa McMorris.
An investigation into the crash indicates that Steven M. Huffman, of Kerhonkson, was traveling northbound on Route 9 by Roa Hook Road when a Ford van, operated by 31-year-old Miguel Belony Jr., of Oyster Bay on Long Island, made a left turn in front of Huffman. Huffman, who was operating a Kenworth tractor-trailer, struck the van which overturned, she said.
Belony was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center with life threatening injuries and is listed in critical condition. Belony’s passenger, Alberto L. Roman, 37, of Farmingdale, was transported to Westchester Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, McMorris said.
The roadway was closed for several hours while the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit reconstructed the crash. The Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit also responded to the scene.
Also at the scene of the crash were members of the Garrison Fire Department.
