The lawsuit alleges that Detective Sgt. John Sheeley suffered knee and back injuries when the heel and soles of his Bates shoes, made by Wolverine World Wide, disintegrated during an awards ceremony, resulting in torn meniscus and back injuries, reported lohud.com.

The officer is seeking "future lost wages," as he believes the injuries are severe enough to force him into retirement.
