Peekskill Man Charged With Violating Probation In Yorktown

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a 21-year-old resident of Peekskill on a bench warrant for violation of probation.

Dezon J. Washington allegedly failed to make a scheduled appearance in Yorktown Justice Court, and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest on Tuesday, April 5, at approximately 6 p.m., police report.

The Peekskill Police Department contacted Yorktown police saying they had Washington in custody on an unrelated charge the following day, April 6, at approximately 6 p.m., according to officials.

Yorktown officers responded and took custody of Washington; following processing at Police Headquarters, he was arraigned, with bail set at $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond, police report.

The defendant was unable to post bail, and was remanded into the custody of the Westchester County Department of Corrections, according to officials.

He is due back in Yorktown Court on Tuesday, April 12, police report.
