Teens Charged With Theft Of $290 Worth Of Clothes At Yorktown Sears

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Two Peekskill teenagers have been charged with petty larceny after being accused of shoplifting from Sears on Thursday, according to Yorktown police.

The names of the 16-year-old and 17-year-old are being withheld due to their eligibility for youthful offender status. 

Police said they received a call from Sears security reporting that two female shoplifters were in custody. Following an investigation at the scene, the females were arrested after they exited the Sears without attempting to pay for assorted clothing valued at $290.99. 

Following processing, the 16-year-old female was issued an appearance ticket directing her to answer the charge in Yorktown Town Court on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 6 p.m. She was released on $100 bail to a guardian. The 17-year-old female was arraigned and, after being unable to post $100 bail, was remanded to the Westchester County Jail on $300 bail. The 17-year-old female is scheduled to answer the charge on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
