Police said Alvarez was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on a petit larceny charge Aug. 15, 2002. Alvarez failed to appear or voluntarily within 30 days thereafter and Yorktown Justice Court then issued an arrest warrant, police said. Initial attempts to locate Alvarez were unsuccessful but on Tuesday she responded to the Yorktown Police Department and turned herself in on the warrant, according to police. Alvarez was processed on the arrest warrant and additionally charged with failure to respond to an appearance ticket, police said.
Alvarez was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court. She was released on $400 bail and scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, June 2 at 6 p.m.
